Mind
Workshops/Healing Circles
healing together…
Self-Development Workshops: Are set up for you to examine the things that we have tucked into our subconscious and that manifests in different parts of our lives. These workshops are designed to help us connect and heal as a collective. From my perspective, our community (school, work sometimes family), does not teach how to heal ourselves when we experience emotional pain and trauma. Most times we suffer in silence or pay for a therapist. Obviously, the latter is not a bad thing, but from my experience, the therapist helped me sort out my thoughts and shed light on different perspectives; for me it wasn’t enough. I needed more, but didn’t know straight away what I needed. I discovered that talking in groups with ordinary people, from all walks of life, helped me to heal. Why? A few reasons:
1. SAFE SPACE/NO JUDGEMENT: I experienced a space filled with open minds and compassion from my people who lived REAL life and had their own ups and downs. I was able to share openly and receive support on topics I had never talked about in public before. Don’t get me wrong, just because I was not judged/shamed, does not mean others didn’t have opposing opinions; there is a difference!
2. CONNECTING: Connecting with the other kindred souls in the room made me feel safe to heal in their presence, as well as gain a sense of community/family.
3. LISTENING: OMG! LISTENING to other peoples’ stories humbled me to my core. Of course, I’m going to hit you with “someone is always going through worse than you, so be grateful,” but it was deeper than that, I got to hear their stories and how they overcame adversity. Baring witness gave me strength and hope that I can overcome anything as long as I had the desire for change.
4. Authentically Building: WE not only built a relationship with each other, but we built a new relationship with ourselves. While we strengthen our mini community, we watched each other transform and elevate.
These 4 components made the group healing experience amazing! I believe it is essential that we begin to connect with each other in this manner.
We will be talking about an array of topics such as:
Abandonment
Healthy Relationships(love &family)
Protection
Emotional & Mental Healing
